Thanks to the heavy rains all through the month, there are place along the Charles that are now accessible by kayak. The little tributary that took me to this spillover from Stony Brook Reservoir is one such place that would normally be impossible to navigate by any kind of watercraft, even a boat as shallow-bottomed as a kayak. Even as uncharacteristically high as the waterline was, I still had to carefully navigate fallen trees and treacherous rocks blocking. Finding this trio of completely unexpected, if temporary, waterfalls with the equally temporary pool of calm water made the effort worth it.
